Starting This Year Strong: Fitness, Consistency, and Choosing Myself
This year didn’t start with some dramatic “new year, new me” speech.
It started with a decision.
I decided I’m done waiting to feel motivated.
I’m done waiting for the perfect time.
I’m done putting myself last.
So I showed up.
Fitness Isn’t About Punishment — It’s About Momentum
I go to Planet Fitness, and no, it’s not because I’m chasing a certain look or trying to prove anything to anyone. I go because every time I leave, I feel better than when I walked in.
Stronger. Clearer. More grounded.
That feeling is addictive in the best way.
Some days it’s a hard workout.
Some days it’s just movement.
Some days it’s showing up when I don’t feel like it.
All of those days count!
My Fitness Goals (Real Ones, Not Instagram Ones)
I’m not training for a marathon.
I’m not trying to be shredded.
I’m not chasing a number on the scale.
My goals are simple and real:
Feel strong in my body
Have energy that lasts all day
Build habits I can actually maintain
Protect my mental health
Age well and feel confident doing it
Fitness, for me, is about self-respect, not self-criticism.
The Power of Daily Movement
What surprised me most is how much I look forward to working out now.
It’s not just about muscles or sweat — it’s about routine.
Working out:
Clears my head
Releases stress
Gives me time just for me
Sets the tone for my entire day
It’s become part of my self-care, right alongside my nighttime red light therapy routine. Movement in the day. Recovery at night. Balance.
Consistency Is the Common Thread
If you’ve been following along, you know I started a 30-day red light therapy challenge earlier this year. And here’s the thing — fitness and recovery follow the same rule:
Consistency beats intensity every time.
Not doing everything perfectly.
Not going all out once a week.
Just showing up again and again.
That’s where the real change happens.
This Isn’t About Being Perfect — It’s About Being Present
There are days I feel strong and confident.
There are days I feel tired and quiet.
There are days I don’t want to work out at all.
And I go anyway.
Not to punish myself — but because I’ve learned that movement changes my mood faster than almost anything else.
This year, I’m choosing:
Progress over pressure
Habits over hype
Consistency over comparison
Starting Strong Doesn’t Mean Burning Out
Starting the year strong doesn’t mean doing everything at once. It means doing the right things, consistently.
For me, that looks like:
Regular workouts
Taking recovery seriously
Protecting my mental space
Building routines that fit real life
I’m not chasing fast results. I’m building a lifestyle.
If You’re Thinking About Starting — This Is Your Sign
You don’t need the perfect plan.
You don’t need the perfect body.
You don’t need the perfect motivation.
You just need to start.
One workout.
One routine.
One decision to show up for yourself.
That’s how this year is starting for me — strong, steady, and intentional.
And I’m not stopping. 💪✨
