New Orleans: The City That Never Sleeps (And Neither Do We)

There’s a specific kind of magic that happens the moment you cross the state line and see that "Welcome to Louisiana" sign. It isn’t just a change in geography; it’s a change in vibe. For our latest adventure, we headed straight into the heart of the Big Easy, and let me tell you—New Orleans in 2026 is electric.
Whether you’re here for the world-class seafood, the neon-soaked nightlife, or just that perfect cup of overcast-day coffee, this city has a soul that you can feel in every brick of the French Quarter.
Fueling the Adventure: Seafood & Caffeine
You can’t visit NOLA without a stop at Deanie’s Seafood. We visited their French Quarter location and went for the Soft Shell Crab with a side of Crab Meat Au Gratin—it was a total 10/10. For those looking for the full experience, their "Giant Seafood Platter" is legendary, but the Soft Shell Crab is the real local secret for a lighter (but still decadent) lunch.
But to keep up with a city that stays awake 24/7, caffeine is a non-negotiable.
• The Local Ritual:
If you want a break from the usual, try French Truck Coffee for a fresh, small-batch roast or Mammoth Espresso in the Warehouse District for some of the best handcrafted lattes in the city.
• On the Go:
A Starbucks macchiato is a classic, but don't sleep on PJ's Coffee of New Orleans—it’s the NOLA version of Starbucks and their Cold Brew is a game-changer for long travel days.
Bourbon Street & Beyond
Nightlife in Louisiana is on a whole different level. Bourbon Street is a sensory explosion of music, lights, and energy. We hit the clubs, soaked in the neon, and ignored anyone who says you can be "too old" to go clubbing.
• Pro Tip:
While Bourbon Street is the heart of the party, check out Frenchmen Street if you want live brass bands and a slightly more "local" music scene. In 2026, the city is also hosting major events like the Rockin' 1000 concert at the Caesars Superdome, proving that NOLA is still the world's stage for big energy.
The Travel Routine: Gym, Road, & Recovery
Even on vacation, the hustle doesn’t stop. Staying motivated means hitting the gym even when you’re miles from home. It’s about balance—burning off those crab cakes so you can do it all again tomorrow!
• Active Travel:
If you need a change of pace from the hotel gym, New Orleans has amazing running or walking paths through City Park or Audubon Park.
And because "self-care" is a travel essential, we ended the journey with some Red Light Therapy. After hours on the road and late nights in the city, taking a moment for #SelfCare with my Foloke mask is the only way to ensure I’m ready for the next adventure.
• Why it works:
Red light therapy (photobiomodulation) helps stimulate ATP production in your mitochondria. In plain English? It reduces the inflammation from travel "bloat" and keeps your skin glowing despite the lack of sleep!
