Some trips are about escape. Others are about remembering where you came from.
This week, my journey took me from Canada back into New York State — and honestly, this part of the trip felt different from the start.
“Welcome back to New York!! Back in the U.S.A it was fun while it lasted Canada. Another check on the bucket list.”
When I posted that, I meant it. Canada was beautiful and full of memories I’ll never forget, but crossing back into New York brought a completely different feeling with it. Familiar roads. Familiar energy. Familiar emotions.
This wasn’t just another stop on the map for me.
This was coming home.
Along the way, I got to take in some incredible views overlooking Niagara Falls. I spent time wandering, sightseeing, laughing, and just enjoying the adventure. There were moments that felt light and fun — skyline views, mini golf with giant dinosaurs, roadside stops, coffee runs, and random little detours that somehow become the best memories.
That’s always been my favorite part of traveling.
Not just the destinations. The moments in between.
But somewhere during the trip, things slowed down a little.
And honestly, I’m glad they did.
Got to stop by and see my grandma’s grave! Also took a detour and stopped by to see my cousin at work.
That stop meant more to me than I can really explain.
Standing there beside family history has a way of putting life back into perspective.
It reminds you how quickly time moves and how important it is to stay connected to the people and places that helped shape you.
Travel isn’t always about running away.
Sometimes it’s about reconnecting.
Sometimes it’s about remembering.
And sometimes it’s just about taking a quiet moment for yourself while life keeps moving around you.
This week reminded me of that.
One minute I was looking out across Niagara Falls with thousands of people around me. The next, I was standing quietly in a cemetery thinking about family, memories, and how life comes full circle in ways you never expect.
That contrast stayed with me.
Adventure and reflection. Movement and stillness.
The future and the past all existing at the same time.
I think that’s why this trip felt so special to me.
It wasn’t perfect.It wasn’t overly planned.It was just real.
And honestly, those are usually the moments that matter most.
“Life is only as good as your mindset, a negative mind will never give you a positive life!”
I still believe that completely!
No matter where I travel, what I go through, or what life throws my way…
I try to keep moving forward with gratitude, curiosity, and a positive mindset. Some days are easier than others, but every new mile teaches me something.
This trip reminded me that home isn’t always a place. Sometimes it’s a feeling.Sometimes it’s a memory.Sometimes it’s the people you carry with you no matter where you go.
And sometimes, after all the miles, all the border crossings, all the bucket-list moments and random detours…you realize the journey was bringing you back to yourself all along.
Some trips take you places. This one took me home.
